Nature Sketching classes are being offered by Alison Robb, founder of Nature's Circle and Nature Coordinator for Highfield Hall. These sessions involve guided sketching of the woods and natural environment that surround Highfield Hall and are held inside the Hall in the event of rain. All skill levels are welcome and observation of the natural environment will be stressed. Classes are Thursdays, May 15, June 5, July 17 and August 14 at 2:00 pm. Participants may come for a single class, or for multiple classes. A fee of $10 per session is requested, payable to the instructor at the time of the class.
To reserve a place in a class, please call Highfield Hall at 508-495-1878 (after hours press ext. 2) to leave your name, telephone number, and the date of the walk or class you wish to attend. You will be registered unless otherwise notified.

Spring has sprung in Beebe Woods! Alison Robb, founder of Nature’s Circle and Nature Coordinator for Highfield Hall, has scheduled several nature walks through Beebe Woods which will be held on Tuesdays, May 20, June 3, July 8 and August 12 beginning at 10 a.m. All walks leave from the front porch of Highfield Hall. A $5 donation is suggested. To reserve a place on a walk please call Highfield Hall at 508-495-1878 (after hours press ext. 2) to leave your name, telephone number, and the date of the walk or class you wish to attend. You will be registered unless otherwise notified.

Woods Hole artist Salley Mavor brings her delightful fabric-relief illustrations to Highfield Hall in a new exhibit, “Rhymes with Stitches.” Featured in the exhibition will be artwork from Ms. Mavor’s latest children’s books, published by Houghton Mifflin, Hey, Diddle, Diddle, Jack and Jill and Wee Willie Winkie. The exhibition opens on Monday June 30, with a reception to be held from 4 to 6 pm. Eight Cousin’s Bookstore will have be on hand with copies of Mavor’s books for sale and the artist will be in attendance to sign books and discuss her work. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend; children, especially, are welcome.
Mavor’s art work will be on display in the Clark Gallery at Highfield Hall from Monday, June 30 – Sunday, August 3. Highfield Hall is open to the public Monday – Friday and Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm. Admission is free of charge.

Gallery exhibit featuring the work of nationally known and regionally recognized sculptors.
The New England Sculptors Association, organized in 1948 and one of the oldest sculptors associations in the United States, represents a diverse membership of nationally and regionally recognized sculptors. NESA members work and show throughout the world, and are represented in numerous private and museum collections. NESA, with approximately 120 current members, eagerly reaches out to aspiring as well as established sculptors. Its members are selected by jury and work in a variety of media.

A new art exhibition, “Celebrating Our Heritage” is now on display in the main galleries at Highfield Hall. The show features the work of the Printmakers of Cape Cod, an association of area artists who use a variety of printmaking techniques to produce an intriguing array of art works. The exhibition, part of the Printmaker’s Trail 2008, is on display through Tuesday, September 2. Highfield Hall is open Monday – Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and also on Sundays in August. Admission is free of charge. A reception hosted by the Printmakers of Cape Cod will be held at Highfield Hall on Friday, August 15 from 6 to 7:30 pm. The event is free and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Jeffrey Hatcher's "The Turn of the Screw" opening August 8 at 8pm is an adaptation of the novella by Henry James. Directed by Carol McManus, this production will be presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts. Performances continue through August 31 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm with Sunday matinees at 4pm. Tickets are $20, $18 for seniors and members and $10 for students with ID. Please call the arts center at 508-428-0669 to place reservations. The Passport to the Arts is accepted for this production.
Part ghost story and part psychological thriller, this classic tale concerns a governess hired by a wealthy recluse to look after his orphaned niece and nephew. The seemingly innocent children gradually reveal a series of terrifying secrets. This provocative two-person adaptation will be an avante-garde theatrical treat of those in a spectral mood. It will feature tour de force performances by Leah Finity and Paul Fendler.
